About the SCA and Gulf Wars!

What is this thing called the SCA? And what is Gulf Wars?

The Society for Creative Anachronism is an international non-profit educational organization that is dedicated to the research and recreation of pre-16th century European History, with a particular focus on its practical applications in arts and sciences, including costuming, cooking, martial arts, dance, calligraphy and illumination, metalwork, archery and music just to name a few.

“In our family we have two fighters (Soon to be three!) And Two Dancers (Middle Eastern) I sew all of our costumes called (Garb) and my husband makes all of our armor! To see photos visit our costume page Trufolk.com

GULF WARS is an annual war between Ansteorra and Trimaris, being hosted by Meridies. It takes place at King's Arrow Ranch near Lumberton, MS. It is currently held during "spring break" in mid-March each year!

An estimate of 3K people attends Gulf War each year and many of them start packing in January!

“I am sewing for the war already! Out with the old and outgrown and in with the new! I’m even taking Middle Eastern Dance in college this semester to brush up on dancing skills.”

To attend Gulf War you need to register either by mail (postmarked by January 31st) or online by February 14th.

Here is a nifty video clip about the SCA!
